About Bristol Horn Youth Concern
Our Story
Bristol Horn Youth Concern is a non-profit Community Interest Company that grew out of a community driven need to provide support, guidance and opportunities for young residents aged 11–19, and their families (ages 20+) in some of the most deprived areas of Central and Inner City East Bristol – particularly Ashley Ward, Central Bristol, St Pauls, Lawrence Hill and Easton.
We provide open access, free-of-charge opportunities to our community to build relationships, make new friends, learn new skills that can lead to team working, employment opportunities and greater community cohesion.
Our Mission
Our overall aim is to support young and older people to improve their physical, emotional and mental health wellbeing. The range of activities that we offer are determined by our community, through consultation and workshop events, and in consultation with our young people's board.
Sports & Fitness
Our sports and fitness activities range from football, basketball (both very popular with our young male and female population), women-only swimming sessions, and gentle walkabout sessions for older people and young parents — designed to tackle physical inactivity, isolation and loneliness. All services are provided on an open-access, free of charge basis.
